About
Welcome, friend. I’m Tom(bo), a developer in Bristol with 15 years of experience of making websites and apps.
I enjoy digging into the details of how things work, solving problems pragmatically, and finding creative ways to stretch budgets while maintaining quality and polish. Like MacGyver *, but for websites.
(*Or a less fluffy Rocket Raccoon, if you’re too young to get the reference.)
Approach
I try to approach things with a designers eye but a developers mindset. Ideas are cheap, and without the right constraints you can find yourself in a pickle. I plan things carefully and build in a way where we always have something that works, and then interate and improve.
Always rock solid fundamentals and best practices, but with a little fun sprinkled on top.
Technical
I work primarily with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress.
I love interactivity and web animation – from scroll animations and visual storytelling, infographics to maps.
I use animation libraries and tools like GSAP, Lottie and Rive, and the occasional bit of Three.js for 3D.
I am always looking to make the web more fun and memorable. One eye on immersion and something compelling, the other on performance, usability, and accessibility.
Beyond Websites
In my spare time, I’m creating Tangermarine, an indie video game where you control a tangerine soldier facing waves of undead vegetables.
I love all things pop culture, animation, bold design and t-shirts with cats on.
